Oct 3, 1961 - April 23, 2016 It's with great sorrow that we mark the tragic passing of our president Gary Murray. He was hard working, opinionated (& that's a good thing if you are a film critic!) and an all-around good guy. In the last year or so he faced many health challenges, always with a good sense of humor and a "looking ahead" attitude. Gary served as president of the North Texas Film Critics Association since 2009 and we will miss his guidance and leadership. It is safe to say that we all knew Gary very well. If you knew Gary, you knew how close Gary and myself were. I was honored that he called me his brother. Just some FYI, the funeral is in Houston and all of you are welcome to go. The viewing is this Fri from 5-8 PM and the funeral is Sat at 2:00 PM. The family has honored me by letting me say a few words at the funeral and to be the head Paul bearer. If anyone would like to attend, the info is on mine and Gary's FB page or e-mail if you wish to get more info, we would love to see you there. On a further note, I was talking with DPD, and there are multiple cameras in the area and once they go through the footage hopefully they can get a License plate from the auto, and if that happens, it will be a new ballgame. Since this is now considered a homicide, way more resources are allocated to the case. Hopefully justice will be served. As a note, I would love for NTFCA to flourish and grow, due to that is what Gary would have wanted. Lets please keep in touch more, be more active, and get more members into the organization. There is a event in the planning stages for a memorial for Gary with the DIFF and Allied. I will keep you informed on that. Please keep Gary and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
